Breast and Chest Augmentation with fat grafting
Fat grafting is the procedure of removing excess fat from one area of your body such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, and buttocks. Purified and prepared before carefully injecting it into a targeted area of the face or body.
Hence, breast augmentation with fat grafting involves a liposuction procedure to remove fat from an area of your body and then injected it into the breast to enhance and increase the size for natural-looking results. This procedure is also a technique used for male chest contouring. Using your own body fat to improve and enhance the contours of the male chest
The procedure is beneficial for those who are a suitable candidate and looking to enhance and increase in breast or chest size. Your breast should already have a good shape and skin tone.
Preparation:
• Your surgeon may take pre-procedure photos.
• Regardless of the type of surgery to be performed, hydration is very important before and after surgery for safe recovery and the best outcomes.
• Stop smoking at least six weeks before the procedure to avoid poor wound healing and scarring.
• Avoid taking aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications that can increase bleeding.
The surgery involves 3 main stages:
1- Removing the fat through a thin tube to suck out small amounts of fat (similar to liposuction).
2- Preparing the fat – special equipment is used to separate the fat collected from any blood and other fluids
3- Injecting the fat – small amounts of fat are injected into the area being treated.
The procedure usually lasts a couple of hours. You may be able to go home soon after the procedure is finished, or you may need to stay in hospital overnight.
Expect swelling, bruising, and pain after the procedure. A compression garment might be required on the liposuction site.
Continue to stay hydrated.
You can expect the areas to which the fat was transferred to appear softer and fuller, giving you a refreshed and rejuvenated appearance. You may even notice an improvement in skin texture.
It can take up to 6 months for a surgical fat transfer to fully take effect, as some of the injected fat may be reabsorbed by your body during the first few months after the procedure.
If a large area is being treated, your treatment may need to be carried out over 2 or more sessions.
Possible side effects includes:
- Cysts
- Infection
- Microcalcification
- Necrosis (death) of fat cells
- The possibility that some of the transferred fat cells will leave the breast area
