Eyelash Transplant
The procedure requires the harvesting of hair from the scalp and then implanting these follicles into the margin of the eyelid. Unlike lifts or extensions, this procedure offers more permanent results once the hair implanted begins to grow.
Advices before the procedure:
• Refrain from smoking for one week prior to and one week after
• your procedure.
• Stop taking Aspirin, Vitamin E, or any multivitamins.
• Avoid drinking alcohol.
• Do not over-expose yourself to the sun.
• Have a light breakfast, but no coffee or caffeinated beverages
• Bringing a family member (or friend) with you to drive you home.
During:
• The procedure starts by measuring and trimming hair found on the back of your head.
• Local anesthesia is used to limit pain.
• Once enough hair is taken from your scalp, your eyelash area is prepped and numbed.
• Then, the new eyelash hairs are inserted one by one.
• The procedure takes between 2 and 4 hours.
Expect to experience some swelling and bruising of the eyelid area for days to weeks.
Expect to be off work about 5-7 days.
Wear a pair of sunglasses after surgery to protect conceal surgical areas.
Do wash your face gently, avoiding eyebrows.
Avoid rubbing at least for the first week.
Avoid excessive sun exposure for the first three weeks.
Some of the transplanted hairs may fall off over the next two weeks and then they will regrow again.
About 10 days after the procedure, sutures will be removed from the donor site, or if dissolvable sutures were used- as they are common- they will dissolve by 4 weeks.
The transplanted hairs can be expected to fall out two weeks after the surgery and begin to grow back in about three months and will continue to grow normally after this time.
Once the hairs begin to grow, you will be able to see fuller, thicker lashes. Final results will show in about 6 months to one year after surgery
