Injection Lipolysis
An injection, also known as intralipotherapy that reduced the number of fat cells below the skin (hypodermis).With a broad range of various substance being injected, it breaks downs and destroy the fat cell thus, inhibits future accumulation. Consequently, their debris is then metabolized and eliminated from the body. The main substance that is present in these injections is deoxycholic acid that comes along with brands such as Kybella, Belkyra, and Geolysis. Phosphatidylcholine is also another substance in brands such as Lipostabil. Brands such as LipoDissolve, Dermastabilon, and Aqualyx contains a combination of substances used for injection lipolysis.
Even though it is a non-invasive treatment, fat injections can potentially cause harm to skin or surrounding tissue such as muscles, nerves, and blood vessels. Therefore, it is critical that you seek a certified and experienced doctor to perform the procedure. Safety requires adhering to the correct dosage, treatment dept, right treatment intervals, and post-treatment care.
Treatment involves the administration of injection into the targetted area using a needle or cannula. Prior to the procedure, it is best to reveal your medical history to your doctor as you discuss expectations and assess your suitability for treatment. You will need to avoid certain medications such as blood thinners before your treatment
A local anesthetic may be given to numb the area of treatment before administering the injection. Do expect some discomfort and minor pain during the procedure. You may experience some soreness and tenderness for a few days following the treatment. Time taken for the treatment is dependent on the area size which may typically take about 30 – 60 minutes.
Right after treatment, you may experience mild and temporary bruising and swelling. This may last up to 10 days. Avoid rubbing the area and wear loose clothing. Avoid application of any topical creams or ointment.
Some patients have noticed visible results after a series of about 4-10 treatments done at an interval of approximately 7-8 weeks apart.
Results are permanent but can be affected by pregnancy and weight gain. Do continue to keep up with a healthy and active lifestyle.
Complications risk tend to be low but may include experiencing lightheadedness, pain, prolonged tenderness, swelling, and bruising. While some may experience an allergic reaction and skin necrosis.
