Mesotherapy Injection
Mesotherapy, a technique that uses injections of vitamins, enzymes, hormones, and plant extracts to rejuvenate and tighten skin, as well as remove excess fat. Originally used as a pain reliever.
In the years since it has gained popularity and in the aesthetic space, mesotherapy is used to reduce cellulite, fade wrinkles and lines, tighten loose skin, recontouring the body, lighten pigmentation and treat alopecia.
Using very fine needles to deliver a series of injections into the middle layer (mesoderm) of skin. Mesotherapy can correct underlying issues such as poor circulation and inflammation that cause skin damage.
While there isn’t a standard formula for the substances injected in mesotherapy, the variation depends on every individual and it is best to seek a certified and experienced doctor to ensure safe and effective treatment.
Further, Mesotherapy is also a non-invasive treatment alternative to liposuction to remove unwanted fat deposits.
You might need to avoid aspirin (Bufferin) and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for one week before the procedure. These pain relievers can increase your risk of bleeding and bruising during mesotherapy.
During each session, you may or may not have numbing medicine applied to your skin. You’ll get a series of injections using a special short needle. The needle may be attached to a mechanical gun to deliver many injections in a row.
The injections can be given at different depths — from 1 to 4 millimeters into your skin — depending on what condition you’re having treated. Your doctor may place the needle into your skin at an angle, or flick their wrist very quickly while injecting. Each injection may only place a tiny drop of the solution into your skin.
Some may experience slight discomfort during the adminstration. A little brusing and swelling may occu but should settle in a day or two.
Because mesotherapy is noninvasive, there usually isn’t any downtime. Many people are able to return to their regular activities right away. Others may need to take a day off due to swelling and pain at the injection sites.
You may need multiple sessions to the desired effect. Results vary from individual and the treatment done by the doctor. Skin will become more radiant, hydrated, and nourish. A firmer and improve texture.
The recommended treatment is approximately 6-8 sessions every two weeks and 1-2 times per year for maintenance.
If you are considering it as an alternative treatment to liposuction, you may need more than 10 sessions to get the results you want. The best is to speak with a qualified doctor.
