Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP)
A procedure where a high concentration of platelets compromising hundreds of bioactive protein and are injected into the tissue that releases growth factors for healing and repairing the aged and damaged tissues.
PRP entails using your unique blood as a natural resource to activate and stimulate the healing system increasing the number of reparative cells the body produces. This has shown profound effects improving wrinkled and aging skin, lines and puffiness around the eyes, rejuvenation of lips, scars, stretch marks, hair loss, and orthopedic therapies and healing. It also enhances surgical results when combined with procedures like fat grafting to speed up tissue regeneration.
Your doctor may advise you to stop certain medications and/or supplements before your procedure. Do ensure to disclose your medical history for proper evaluation.
During the procedure, blood will be drawn and you would want to make sure you eat before to help you avoid feeling fainting spells or lightheadedness. Under a sterile condition would the shots be administered.
After the shots, avoid washing the area that was being treated for up to 48 hours.
You may experience some soreness and bruising. Should you experience any sharp or intense pain, do let your doctor know.
Results may take up to several weeks before they are visible. For some treatment affecting the hair and skin, may take up to 6 months for full effects. Some conditions such as hair loss, multiple session is recommended for treatment to take effect and maintain the results.
As PRP entails the use of your own blood, the risk of allergy or immune reaction is rare. However, the risk associated with the procedure could include infection of the site, trauma from the needles.
