Radiofrequency treatment for Skin and Body Tightening (Internal)
Radiofrequency energy (RF) is a form of electromagnetic current that generates thermal energy and delivered through various tissue types. The heat increases skin metabolism while stimulating collagen and elastin production for cell renewal, reducing the appearance of fine lines and loose skin. This technique can induce remodeling effects on the tissues.
Typically two types of methods, external or internal.
An internal RF induces tightening effects by heating up the deeper layers of the skin. This treatment typically involves a small incision to allow an internal probe to be passed into the layers beneath.
Treatment names include: Acutite, Bodytite
This technique can be used to treat a wide range of concerns such as sagging brows, periorbital area, laugh lines or nosalabial folds, marionette lines, sagging neck. It can also be applied to the body such as upper arms, hands, abdomen, thighs and legs and bra fat.
First things first to ensure that you are a suitable candidate for the treatment.
The treatment is done under local anesthesia. To begin, the cannula or probe will be inserted under the skin at the treatment area. The electrode is then placed on the surface of the skin before RF energy is passed through. The procedure may take anywhere from 20-60 minutes.
Expect some redness and bruising to occur and may last up to 7-10 days. Do take a few days off work and avoid exercise for about a week and slowly resume.
You may return to work within the was few days.
Some patients may choose to wear compression garments to control the swelling.
You can expect to see results after the first treatment and results will continue to progressively improve. The process may take from weeks to a year.
Results are long-lasting.
Continue to keep a healthy diet and lifestyle to prolong the results.
Side effects tend to be rare but should still be considered such as
– prolong swelling and bruising
– risk of skin burn and changes in color
– nerve bruising resulting in muscle weakness
-asymmetry and contour irregularities
