Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP)
Also known as Scalp micro pigmentation in order to create an illusion of fuller hair. The procedure creates tiny, layered dot-like hues of black that replicate the look for hair follicles and create shadows for natural-looking depth and definition. The technique of your doctor is crucial for safe and aesthetically satisfactory results.
Make sure to wash your hair before each treatment. To begin, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the scalp. The actual process may vary depending on the complexity and the size of the treated area. Micropigmentation will then commence and you may feel a light vibration with tiny pricks sensation. However, overall a comfortable process.
Typically patients may require about 3-4 sessions for the best results. The first two session may be done consecutively and a month for the 3rd and 4th.
The results can last for about 2 years as the ink gradually fades. Typically, once faded, patients can choose to go for an annual touch up session.
Side effects may include:
- swollen lymph nodes
- redness
- itchy scalp
- too large dots
- dots turning blue
